The change in forms of communication has been documented again and again. Lastly, with a brochure + DVD. Even the classic presentations have been further developed. Among them, the exhibitions became virtual exhibitions and then PDF exhibitions. An important innovation was the File Book. This concept was a reaction to the limitations of the distribution possibilities of prints and thus the limitations in the development of a world audience. File books are digital publications that enable the reading of hypertexts, but above all digital distribution. However, file books are still limited to the text and have been published in many languages. The next step is Hyper Book, which can make possible what has already been realized, for example, with the exhibition „Jura Soyfer and Theatre“ at the Austrian TheatreMuseum, which then went to 35 countries – taking into account the real diversity (not only signs, but also sounds, colors). In this context, a complex overall approach was also developed.
In the case of the project „The Iron Age“, a Hyper Book is therefore a synthesis of the arts in a new form. But it is also a concept for cultural studies publications of a new type.
In contrast to a numerical field with its simulation of characters, sounds, colors, a Hyper Book has a „closedness“ like a field in a physics experiment. But unlike a physics experiment, it’s about imagination. The Hyper Book in its media complexity is something new and therefore goes beyond the capture of the existing that is to be grasped by an experiment. A Hyper Book also makes it possible to present ideas in a way that cannot yet be captured by current search engines and requires new technologies. This is because it enables potentially different approaches than numerical fields with their limitation due to their form of simulation of signs, colors, sounds or articles with their relative limitation in the query, for example in Academia.edu. On the one hand, the Hyper Book format offers the advantages of an open homepage, but on the other hand, it also provides access to complex structures that point beyond themselves in terms of media.
This type of format is important for forms of discourse, for polylogues in the context of a global audience on the basis of a digital public sphere, in order to enable interactivity in a new way, but above all to develop it (technologically). With this new format, not only a peephole stage is to be overcome, but also the authoritarianism or the spirit world of the traditional media, the fundamental limitation of digitality from which the „stupidities“ of the „Artifical Intelligence“ results.
